Lake cleaning

Sunderland Council have kept their promise to drain and clean roker Park Boating Lake in 2021

As Thursday 30th September saw the start of the draining process to be able to clean the pond, all members should be aware that it will take roughly three days to drain and three to five days to refill. sailing therefore, will be on hold untill hopefully Thursday 7th Oct.

OK it took a little longer to get there because they couldn't use the drainage valve and had to resort to pumps. The heavy rainfall that we had half way through didn't help either. Should see a start to refill over weekend 9th/10th October. We were also informed that the RSPCA confirmed that the wildfowl would suffer no hardship during this process.
